"This is a new beginning for Nokia," said Stephen Elop, CEO of Nokia when it introduced two cell phones, such as Viewwit quoted by Reuters on Thursday (10/27/2011).
Elop believes qualified minimalist design and features make the Nokia stand out among the other vendors of Windows Phone. Lumia 800 is a mainstay, provided for free navigation features and browser Internet Explorer 9. While Lumia 710 is one of the cheapest Windows mobile phone.
"The device is a good start. Mobile collaboration Nokia and Microsoft are actually going to come out next year. But it was an arduous task to regain the market from Apple and Android," said Ben Wood, analyst at CCS Insight.
Other analysts believe Windows phones will become a reliable ammunition Nokia. Microsoft's marketing strength and loyalty of Nokia fans might just make a phone is a success.
"Lumia phone has strong selling points and offer a completely different design than previous Nokia device. This device is a strong contender," said John Delaney, research director at IDC.
Never became king in the smartphone segment, Nokia is now back to fight fiercely with Windows Phone. iPhone and Android seems to be alert to lunge the Finnish vendor with new ammunition.
